Monday, I spoke to the National Assn.of Pediatric Nurses on The Joy of Leadership for Chapter Presidents. Afterwards, a young nurse told me this story: Her responsibility is to care for sick babies. The system was burying her with paperwork. Her supervisor had a plan to reduce the load. But she couldn’t wait. She had allowed the stress to get to her. She interfered and ruined her supervisor’s plan. She said, “Now it is going to take a long time to resolve this issue.” Even when we know we are right, over-reacting to opportunities or jumping the gun won’t bring success. It takes confidence to succeed. It also takes time. – Shar McBee
