The other day I was playing tennis and hit a very good shot. It went hard to the back court. My opponent had to scramble to return it. And guess what? I was so busy congratulating myself, that I missed the next point. It’s hard to be modest about our achievements. The same is true when we flub. We tend to dwell on our mistakes and on our magnificence. Both take us out of the moment. Both prevent us from being receptive to what comes next. (Which is what happened to me when I got lost in my self congratulation.) Doing the right thing requires that we stay balanced and present NOW - in the moment. If we don’t, we expose ourselves to danger and miss the opportunities that come in surprise moments. – Shar McBee Visit the Website: http://www.joyofleadership.com/ Shar McBee is a motivational speaker and bestselling author who has helped over 150,000 people become better leaders.
