Leadership tips for new managers and volunteer leaders

My Photo
Name: Shar McBee

Shar McBee is a motivational speaker, a consultant, and the author of two bestselling books. Shar had never received management training when she was suddenly put in charge of supervising 500 people. It was hard. People wouldn't cooperate. They wouldn't do what they were supposed to do. Even worse, they criticized Shar for what she did. Finally, a wise mentor taught Shar a leadership secret. She tried it and it worked amazingly. In business, it made it easy to attract customers. On volunteer projects, it made it very easy to attract volunteers and donations. (In some cases, the increase was as much as 500 %.) Today Shar McBee speaks at about 35 leadership conferences each year. Sharing her secret with new managers and volunteer leaders, Shar has helped over 150,000 people become better leaders. When they learn the Joy of Leadership method, instead of feeling frenzied, being the leader becomes fun.

How to Regain Your Good Name

Joy of Leadership

Don’t let a seed of humiliation
grow into a sea of slime.
Stop it when it is little.

In Joy of Leadership we talk about
giving a seed instead of the whole tree
because a seed will grow.
It is similar when we have lost face.

To regain your position of authority
(when you actually feel like quitting)
you don’t have to strive in a big way
to regain your good name.

Be happy with small gains at first.
Accept your reverses and go back to work
patiently and conscientiously.

If you quit, you cut down the tree.
If you can remain conscientious,
all will be forgotten.
Your influence will grow again and
you’ll regain your good name. – Shar Bee
